When I have
painted the first time the character who would lead me towards this exhibition,
I was into a special state of inspired spontaneity.
I’ve been making portraits for a very long time, but always, within my
unconscious, the premonition of this so called expressionless character tended
to outline itself. I had the experience of that moment of profound vision and
it revealed itself.
I have a special relationship with my character and, surprisingly enough, when
I presented the work for the first time during the graduation exhibition of the
Master program, last year, this expressionless figure provoked very strong emotions
to all those who interacted with it. Unfortunately, the plenty of emotions determined
one of the viewers to take the cutter and cut the canvas of the painting.
These astonishing emotions made me to dedicate an entire exhibition to this character.
I kept thinking if I should give my character a name. I have decided not to do
it. I would like much more each person to name it in his/her personal, intimate
way. It can even be an exercise of the quintessence of this exhibition.
