Artist’s Profile (auto–references)

Painting is a modality of current and valid expression even though it is positioned into an eccentric area. I am interested in the visual impact that the image detains, therefore the subjects I paint are powerful, intense. My interest is of impressing the viewer visually. This way, I consider my painting provokes, imposes itself and succeeds to function. I practice a strong figurative genre, a moderate realism with expressionistic accents. I am not interested in the identical, obsessive copy of reality, rather I am interested in its transposition. I want my painting to be “poetical”, meditative, but in the same time dramatic. Meditation and poetry reveal themselves to be a consequence of the visual impact the viewer undergoes. The execution of a work is occurring during a short span of time, the majority of paintings are realized into a session of a couple of hours. This way I succeed to synthesize the image, to pinpoint a state that preoccupies me and which I live, at stake being to obtain an intense, fresh and sincere image. My painting has a limited target. It is not about an age group, rather about that character who knows and likes to look, it is a painting for “voyeurs”. I consider the experiment, in the visual area, as a modality of continuous exploitation of the personal creativity. I adapt my manner of expression depending on the concept of each exhibition project. The images which I use in my paintings stem from different sources, either my own photographs, images found on the Internet, TV caption… This way I recycle the image, I am finding it another meaning then the initial one. I consider my art is related to present events, recent history, therefore I reflect situations that preoccupy us.
